This kitchen was probably one of the most physically challenging jobs we have taken on, with the house situated nearly on top of the Malvern Hills and having no driveway. This meant we had to park our vehicles at the bottom of the hill and climb up narrow and steep pathways, whilst carrying up the units. On the plus side, there were some stunning views on the journey!
This solid oak Shaker style kitchen is made from Prime European Oak, complete with Silestone ‘Bamboo’ worktops and pewter handles. The walls are painted with Farrow & Ball’s ‘Cooking Apple Green’ which contrasts beautifully with the Oak units. We designed and handcrafted the chimney feature around the AGA with the clients input, they wanted to make best use of the worktop space so we stepped back the bottom of it, using a curve and planting small units in the sides to make best use of storage. We also fixed matching Oak beams onto the ceiling which complimented the kitchen. To make best use of the available space, we fitted the fridge unit under the stairs, alongside the angled units which makes it look like part of the original staircase. One of the features that catches the eye in this kitchen is the sink. Although our client wanted a Belfast sink, they did not like the square fronted version and instead opted for the curved front, which I think breaks up the kitchen nicely.
Since we finished the kitchen, our clients have had us back to supply and fit a new utility room and a bathroom. Watch this space for the finished photographs.
